The philosophy of life in Naidu’s Poems

The philosophy of life is an overall outlook or attitude towards life and its purpose.

Human activity is limited by time and death. But we forget that; we take our time with distractions, never asking ourselves if they matter, if we really find them valuable. In addition to our personal philosophy, we will live without meaning in our lives.

Naidu gives us the direction of his optimistic philosophy of life in his poems.

Sarojini Naidu is an Indian politician and poet. An advocate of civil rights, women's liberation and anti-imperialist ideas, she was an important figure in the colonial regime.

If we see, the poem "Transience" by Naidu,

“Nay, do not grieve tho' life be full of sadness,
Dawn will not veil her splendor for your grief

Nor spring deny their bright, appointed beauty
To lotus blossom and ashoka leaf”

The poet suggests, let's be happy when sadness comes in our life because no one waits for us and not even the dawn does not hide its beauty from us. Lotus flower and ashoka leaf will do its job,

‘’Nay, do not pine, tho' life be dark with trouble,

Time will not pause or tarry on his way;

To-day that seems so long, so strange, so bitter,

Will soon be some forgotten yesterday’’

The poet suggests that, Life goes with trouble then time will not wait for us, when you feel in trouble with this time and you will be forgotten so soon.

“Nay, do not weep; new hopes, new dreams, new faces,
The unspent joy of all the unborn years”

The poet gives us idea about optimistic of philosophy of life, she gives us guideline through the poem, Sometimes we may fall in loneliness in our life but  we should  do not weep, may be a happy moment will come soon.

In the poem, the poet tries to suggest that life is a combination of pain and pleasure. We should forget the pain with joy.

Life:

 The poet gives the idea of children and men growing up and they don't understand the meaning of life, she describes the pain that comes in our lives, but the kind of people who think life is carnival joy happiness.

The poet gives us the idea that you should not go into turbulent times until you cannot understand the meaning of suffering, of pain, of life's struggle.

Life is full of suffering if we go through the moment like a phoenix born after being hurt. Thus, life is nothing but struggle and victory over all suffering.

In this poem, the poet also gives us optimistic philosophical thoughts.

Autumn Song

Autumn Song is a metaphorical poem in which the poet compares autumn to the state of her heart after losing a dream, perhaps that she fell in love with someone.

“My heart is weary and sad and alone,
For its dreams like the fluttering leaves have gone,
And why should I stay behind?”

However, in the fall, its leaves wither and tear, leaving a bare tree that cannot be heard in the storm. Like a sad lonely tree, the poet's heart is also tired, sad and lonely because like the leaves of a tree that have lost their dreams or loved ones.

These conceptual philosophies guide my life;

Life is about solving problems, and every obstacle is the way forward.

Take care of yourself first, If you are not healthy it is very difficult to be happy.

Life is certain. Do what brings out the best in you.

You are the author of your own life. Improve, not excuse.
